hmm…

• There would be some sort of reference to the summer. Preferable flashbacks, or a montage, or something to show us what they’ve all been doing, because the finale gave us nothing.
• A clear explanation of where they all are now and how/why that happened.
• Finn and Rachel reaching some sort of friend status, realizing that not being together really is best for them at the moment, but being civil about it and not having that same boring, childish drama. I would like to see them be friends. 
• All of the new characters wouldn’t be prominent in the episode. They would be introduced, obviously, but their importance wouldn’t be great. I think it’s more important to acknowledge the original characters and explain things that weren’t explained in the finale before giving us more characters. That would only give them more loose ends, and they would be tied together as sloppily as they always are when they take on too much.
• Santana would be in New York, and she would be struggling, and it would be a realistic portrayal of that. Brittany will be there for her, but only through the phone and through Skype while she tries to get through school.
• Brittany would have a dominant role, and her failing last year would be taken seriously. 
• Blaine would not suddenly be the ‘leader’ of glee club.
• Kurt and Blaine would also be long distancing it, and I would like it if their relationship showed the challenges of it. Maybe not in the first episode, but in the season. I think that Kurt has never really had attention paid to him, and it would be interesting to show him getting that interest from other guys and how that makes him feel when there’s Blaine there. It would give Kurt a big storyline, and could also really strengthen that relationship beyond what they have done now, not shitting on Blaine and making him the angsty child in the situation. Either that or it could lead to a breakup, which they could handle in a much better way than Finchel’s many. I would probably leave it open though, more of a ‘break’.
• Finn would be struggling. He wouldn’t have that ‘leader’ status, and he wouldn’t be sure what to do or what his place is without that sense of power.
• Rachel would just be being epic. She would be missing people, but she will be loving living in New York and being with Kurt and literally living her dream. No drama, no second thoughts.
• Tina and Artie will bond again and form a friendship, one that could later develop a little and possibly venture into romantic territory.
• Mike will be not replying to Tina much and that will bother her, but it will only be because he is busy. She will suspect that it’s something else and there will be some legitimate drama for them; possibly introducing Artie as the ‘shoulder to cry on’. Again, probably not all in one episode.
• Sam would be missing Mercedes, and I would like it if Sam/Brittany friendship was hinted at or developed with that mutual missing of the person that they love. 

I think that’s it…

I’m still using that one quite a lot right now, but there will undoubtedly come time where I decide to make a different one or change it up a bit, I’ll post it when I do :)
